Runway Publishes Two Unlimited-to-Max Switch Dates
Runway's help center says both September 1 and November 30 for the Unlimited-to-Max switch. Use your account email and billing page for the actual deadline.
Runway’s help center currently gives legacy Unlimited subscribers two different switch dates. The public pages cannot establish which date applies to a particular account. The subscriber email and Plans & Billing page are the records to use for a cancellation or migration deadline.
Both official pages were retrieved on August 28, 2026. Their date statements appear below exactly as published:

The later article repeats that eligible legacy Unlimited plans remain unchanged through November 30 and says Runway emailed every Unlimited subscriber with the full details. It then says monthly subscribers move to Max on November 30 at the same $95 per month price.
Keep the two dates side by side. “Eligible legacy Unlimited subscriptions” may describe a narrower group than every account still displaying Unlimited. Runway’s public copy does not publish the eligibility test.
Max changes the product
The migration article describes Max as 9,500 monthly credits, on-demand generation, and up to one month of unused credits rolling into the next month. Legacy Unlimited supplied 2,250 monthly credits plus Explore Mode, which provided unlimited generations at a relaxed rate. Max removes Explore Mode.
This is a material capacity change at the same stated monthly price:

Runway’s credit guide independently confirms the 2,250 and 9,500 allocations, Max’s one-month rollover, and the expiry of Standard, Pro, and Unlimited monthly credits on the billing date. Purchased credits do not expire. Web-app credits and API credits are separate balances.
Monthly and annual accounts have different decisions
For a monthly Unlimited account covered by the August 27 article, the switch happens automatically on November 30 at $95 per month. Cancellation is the published alternative.
For an annual account, the same article says that in November the subscriber can cancel for a refund of the remaining annual months or accept a credits bonus and migrate to Max. It does not state the bonus amount, the refund formula, or the exact opening day of that choice. The article also says the annual-plan refund option is available ahead of the deprecation date.
Runway’s ordinary refund policy covers a different path. Runway may refund a subscription bought or renewed within the previous 30 days when usage is absent or close to absent, at Runway’s discretion. A granted refund immediately ends paid feature access, removes unused plan credits, and moves the account to Free.
Treat the special annual migration refund and the ordinary 30-day refund as separate policies. The first depends on the account’s deprecation date and Runway’s migration communication. The second depends on purchase timing and usage.
Workspace seats do not multiply the credit pool
The plan-picker and credit guide both say a workspace shares one set of plan credits. Adding an editor adds another billed seat and leaves the workspace credit allowance unchanged. The plan-picker’s example has two Standard editors sharing one 625-credit monthly pool.
Studios planning around Max should price editors and generation capacity on separate lines. A second editor increases collaboration access. A separate subscription is the documented path to a separate credit pool.

Account check for August 28
- Open Plans & Billing and record the plan name, billing interval, next invoice date, current credits, and any displayed migration date.
- Find Runway’s Unlimited-to-Max email, including spam and billing folders. Save it with the invoice because the August 27 article says that email carries account-specific details.
- Preserve screenshots when the email and billing page disagree. Ask Runway support to identify the applicable switch date and annual-refund window in writing.
- Compare actual monthly generation with 2,250 and 9,500 credits. Teams that depend on Explore Mode should include the loss of that workflow in the decision.
- Submit cancellation or annual-refund instructions against the account-specific date supplied by Runway. The public conflict makes a generic September or November calendar unsafe.
The September 1 statement remains live on the plan-picker, and the August 27 migration article extends eligible plans through November 30. Preserve both as evidence and let the account record set the deadline.
